Metropolitan Works is proud to present DIGITAL WORKS FESTIVAL OF MAKING JULY 2011

Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the Festival of Making will offer small to medium sized enterprises the opportunity to attain hands-on experience with the digital design and manufacturing technology for free at Metropolitan Works through digital workshops, demonstrations and talks from industry specialists in; 3D CAD Modelling software, laser cutting, water jet cutting, CNC routing, rapid prototyping and 3D scanning.

 

OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES

Digital Works: Festival of Making includes a series of two and three-day workshops focused on the state of the art digital design technology offered at the Centre. Each workshop will focus on a specific method of digital manufacture led by one of Metropolitan Works’ specialist technicians.  Attendees will see live demos of the machinery, learn about materials and hear talks from inspiring designers and artists who use the machines in their own work and take away valuable, hands-on experience rarely offered to the public.

The Digital Works: Festival of Making aims to familiarise creative businesses with a wide range of digital manufacturing technology that can enhance and improve a company’s approach to production. The workshops offer explanation as to how the technology might be applied to a business’ manufacturing needs and demonstrate the benefits over and complementing traditional methods.
