Metropolitan Works’ Creative Dialogue series aims to promote discourse amongst London’s creative community. Each event incorporates a talk by a guest speaker, followed by informal networking.

The October event will see three designers from the Ten collective – Gitta Gschwendtner, Nina Tolstrup and Sam Johnson – discussing their individual projects for the 2009 100% Design show.

In 2006, Designer Chris Jackson invited ten London-based designers to illustrate their views on the subject of sustainability within the capital. The designers were restricted to work within a 10km radius of their studios, to utilise resources and scavenge materials, with a budget of ten pounds. The resulting objects, both diverse and fresh in their perspectives and approach, were displayed within 100% Design.

Ten is now a regular fixture and annual highlight of 100% Design and encompasses some of the London’s most influential contemporary designers; Alex Hellum, Carl Clerkin, Chris Jackson, Gitta Gschwendtner, Hector Serrano, Michael Marriott, Nina Tolstrup, Sam Johnson, Stephen Bretland and Tomoko Azumi.

Sustainability remains at the forefront of the collective’s work and they strive to minimise the ecological impact of their designs by addressing issues surrounding; materials, packaging and transportation.
